As a precursor to this review I’d like to point out that fact that for the past 12 years I haven’t really used any other mouse except for the various versions of the Razer Deathadder. For anyone who is looking for a good quality mouse I highly suggest you check it out. This review is not about that mouse and I only bring it up to point out that I don’t have as much experience using different mice as much as some other people do. This review is for the Finalmouse Ninja Air58. My brother (JAB) got me this mouse for Christmas and it finally arrived after some delayed shipping a little over a week ago now. Since I have had some time to try it, I figured I could give my perspective on it now.
So, first thing first the Air58 is an ambidextrous mouse as opposed to the Deathadder which is a right-handed mouse. A fact that I didn’t even know until I started doing more research between the two mice. On that fact alone, it took my hand a few days to get used to the different angle of the mouse and I had to adjust my grip slightly there. One reason I stayed with the Deathadder for so long is that I have longer fingers and I was always worried other mice might not fit my hand correctly. Even with my longer fingers though the Air58 fit my hand perfectly and even if you are someone with smaller hands, I believe this mouse would still work wonderfully for you.
Now comparing the weight of the Air58 to the Deathadder is where there is a true difference in these two mice. The Deathadder comes in at 105 grams, whereas the Air58 is literally the weight of air. Okay not really but it only weighs 58 grams which is just over half the weight of the Deathadder. I know some of you may be thinking does weight difference really matter that much and I believe it truly does. I know some people prefer a heavier mouse but for me having the lighter mouse has definitely helped improve my aim. I feel like I can move the mouse faster and therefore hit more snapshots and aim much quicker than before. I will mention that I do use the Zowie CAMADE mouse bungee and I believe that the Air58 doesn’t really need it because the mouse cord bends very nicely and has little drag. I use it primarily because of cable management to help clean up my desk some. With the Deathadder though I had to use the bungee because the cord was stiffer and often caught on my desk or mousepad.
Now for the cosmetic part. I have the Cherry Blossom Blue version of the mouse and I absolutely love the color. It goes well with my setup. The feel of the mouse is great for me because I often have sweaty hands, and with the hexagon cutouts on this mouse my hand get more airflow and stays quite cooler. I thought that I wouldn’t like the feel of them on the sides, but it actually provides extra grip which is nice. The last feature of these mouse that I thought was just cool and something they definitely didn’t have to do was that they added a custom haiku to each mouse. Unfortunately, I can’t read it but I’m working on a way to figure out what mine says and will report back if I figure it out.
Overall, I am very happy with this mouse and I will definitely use this mouse for as long as I can. It feels and looks wonderful. If you can get your hands on one, I would highly suggest giving this mouse a try. Finalmouse creates some great products and this was just another one that stood out even among the rest. Until next time.
